One of the biggest problems people face when trying to lose weight is that they do not even know how many calories they consume. This makes things much more difficult because even if you try to calculate your calorie intake, there comes a point where you may eat a portion of food without knowing exactly how much you are eating, and as you know, intuition can sometimes be wrong.
I have always said that you do not necessarily need to exercise to lose weight, but of course, working out helps you burn more calories and build muscle. What I mean is that the key to losing weight is creating a calorie deficit. That is the real trick.
If your body burns more calories than you consume each day, you will gradually begin to lose weight because your body will start using its stored energy reserves.
How Do You Know How Many Calories You Should Eat Every Day?

Although there is no way to know this with 100% accuracy, a good way to get a realistic estimate is by using a calorie calculator. These tools calculate how many calories your body burns every day based on factors such as your age, gender, height, weight, and physical activity level.

Here, I am entering my information into a calorie calculator, and it is quite easy to get an approximate result.
Once completed, the calculator shows me how many calories my body burns per day. In other words, regardless of how much I eat, my body already burns around 2,627 calories daily. So, if I consumed 2,000 calories per day, I would start losing weight.
Of course, the goal is not to lose weight in an unhealthy or uncontrolled way. Instead, maintaining a 500-calorie deficit is usually a better approach to help avoid losing muscle mass.
How Do You Know the Calories in Your Food?

One of the best ways is with the Etekcity Smart Kitchen Scale. Besides allowing you to measure the weight of your food, it can also help you estimate the calories and nutrients in what you are eating.
Additionally, through the app, you can track your daily food intake and see how many calories you consume by the end of the day. This makes it easier to stay within your calorie deficit.
It is much better than traditional kitchen scales that only show the weight of your food but do not provide an estimate of how many calories it contains.
